India has become the fastest growing market for global application software leader SAP. The firm bets on its India business to drive momentum of its traditional as well as newer offerings.
SAP’s Asia Pacific/Japan business grew 19 per cent year-on-year to €123 million (non-IFRS software revenue) for the first quarter of 2012. The quarter was the best Q1 the company has ever seen in APJ and is its ninth consecutive quarter of double-digit growth.
“India is also an early adopter of our new offerings including real-time data analysis system HANA. We are seeing double-digit growth across segments driven by our mobility and database businesses,” said Peter Gartenberg, MD of SAP India.
“With the acquisition of Business Objects and Sybase, we are now a serious contender in the database business. SAP aspires to be the No. 2 database vendor in the country. Recent customers in India running the SAP ERP applications have also opted for our technologies to transact, move, store, process and analyse data in real time. Those that have joined this trend include Bhavnagar Energy, Industrial Mineral Comp, Jeans Kit and Sanghvi Foods,” he added.
The firm is betting on its HANA offering to make inroads into the database market. The solution offers real-time data processing and reduces complexity of information management.
